OHVALE TECHNICAL REGULATIONS GP-0 110 4 Speed 2020

Motorcycles participating in the BMB CHAMPIONSHIP Ohvale GP-0 110 CUP must comply with the provisions of this regulation. As set out in the Sporting Regulations, this Championship is divided into the Categories:

GP-0 110 4Speed

Except as explicitly authorised by this regulation and by the BMB/Ohvale UK scrutinising Team, all the components of the motorcycle must be kept original, therefore as originally produced by the manufacturer.

If not specified, the front, side and rear views of the motorcycles will conform to the appearance of the model as originally produced by the manufacturer. The physical appearance of the exhaust system is excluded from this standard.

1. GENERAL

1.1. The weight of the motorcycle in running order shall not be less than values shown below: a) GP-0 110 4Speed Kg. 64.

1.2. SEALING AND ENGINE QUOTA

1.2.1. During the whole season, each rider has the right to use, therefore to seal, a maximum of 3 engines. Riders registered as wild cards are allowed to seal a maximum of 2 engines per event and no more than 3 during the season.

1.2.5. Each rider has the obligation to seal at least one engine during the technical inspections of the first event to which it participates. Use on the track of an engine without seals or with damaged seals involves the immediate affixing of new seals and is equated with technical irregularity.

1.2.6. Sealing of additional engines can occur at the end of the current event or in subsequent events, according to the rider’s needs, subject to agreement with the Chief Technical Steward.

1.2.7. The engines are sealed in the rider name, the exchange of already sealed engines among riders can only be done with the knowledge and approval of Ohvale UK/BMB.

1.2.8. Applying new seals to an engine with missing, removed or damaged seals is likened to sealing of a new engine. Except for the replacement of seals removed during the Technical Inspections, provided the engine to be submitted for substitution seals within the Technical Inspections of the event following the verification.

1.2.9. The use of an engine beyond the permissible amount is penalised with starting from the last position on the grid, in the first race following the sealing request. In a case where more than one rider applying for sealing of an engine above the maximum allowed number, the starting order will be the order in which the request was made for the engine sealing (the last showing up will be in the last position, the last but one showing up before the last one, and so on).

1.2.10 – Any engine needing a new seal, such as a refreshed engine, that has not been built by Ohvale UK will be liable to a surcharge of £60 inc VAT as the engine will be stripped and built again for checks. For 2020 this rule does not apply.

STOCK ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS

When rebuilding or refreshing your engine you must replace any parts with like for like parts for that engine type ie the same dimensions etc.

DYNO TESTING LEVELS FOR 2020 SEASON

After extensive testing and data acquisition by ourselves and Mini Bike Dyno we have formulated the following bhp and torque allowances that we feel are fair for each of the stock classes.

The testing procedure developed by Mini Bike Dynos allows for all riders to be tested quickly in a like for like manner incorporating settings that make allowances for differing gear ratios, wheel sizes, tyre pressures and atmospheric conditions.

Because of the nature of all the variables that are involved in Dyno testing, not excluding the different makes in testing equipment, all Dynos will read differently when testing the same machinery and, in some cases, quite dramatically.

However, by using the same equipment and type of tests at each event we can establish what is determined as a max level for the stock classes we run when tested on the same settings.

To be deemed compliant your engine must not exceed the following maximum output levels for your class.

CLASS MAX BHP MAX TORQUE
Mini GP /JSM 90 (Bambinos) 7.9 5.5
Mini GP / JSM 140-50 15.1 10.6
Mini GP 190/70 24.9 16.8
Mini Bike Stock 140 15.1 10.6
Mini Bike Stock 160 16.4 10.9

During the research for these settings, we tested many known stock engines, new and old and established that the figures given are easily achievable by a stock engine with the allowed modifications fitted for its class.

Be warned that any modifications (that are allowed for your class) that you make to your engine or carburetor may potentially push your output to just over this limit and therefore risk you being excluded. Therefore, if making these modifications we would strongly suggest that you have your bike tested by having a basic power run done by Mini Bike Dyno either before the event or at the track to make sure your engine still complies with these limits.

It is your responsibility to make sure your engine complies.

REMEMBER YOU CANNOT MODIFY YOUR ENGINE IN ANY OTHER WAY THAN THOSE ALREADY STATED FOR YOUR CLASS. EVEN IF YOUR ENGINE IS BELOW THE MAX LEVELS. IF WE FIND IT HAS BEEN ILLEGALLY MODIFIED YOU WILL BE EXCLUDED.

No one can really object to the setting of limits because after all, we all want the same thing.

Good Cost Effective, Fair, Fun competitive Racing.

The whole ethos of the Stock Classes is that they should provide, Cost Effective, Close, Competitive and Inclusive Racing.  Each rider should be free to take part with little expense and that no rider or team should be able to gain an advantage other than by the riders ability and the teams ability to set up the bike within the regulations. It should all be about RIDER SKILL not the size of THEIR CHEQUE BOOK. The current regulations have been put in place, to as far as possible within a budget sport, provide this. However it is highly likely that at some stage a product or part may become available that on the face of it complies with the set regulations but still offers the user an advantage over other riders. In this case we reserve the right to Ban the Product / Part as it would not fit within the ethos of the sport.

Ie is not within the SPIRIT OF THE CLASS.

CHAMPIONSHIP RULES
AND REGULATIONS

The British Mini Bikes are authorised to hold Motorised events by the I.O.P.D. (International Organisation for Professional Drivers) Under Permit no. 40201A

The IOPD are one of the Twelve Governing Bodies appointed by the Department of Transport to authorise Motorised Motor Sport Events in the UK.

It is an OFFENCE under the Road Traffic Act to organise or take part in a motorised event unless it has been authorised and permitted by one of the twelve governing bodies.

In affect the Permit and Licence’s  Issued exempts the Organisers and Riders from prosecution for committing driving offences whilst taking part in an event.

The Organisers of an event are legally required to obtain this authorisation and permits and to display these in a prominent place for inspection during rider sign on and whilst the event is being run.

To obtain the Authorisation and Permit the tracks are submitted for inspection and the organisers have to run the meeting subject to strict guidelines set out by the governing body. Also the Organisers personnel are vetted, approved and licence’d for the roles they undertake.

All of the twelve appointed Governing Bodies operate a Licencing scheme for their events. When becoming a member with the British Mini Bikes you will be issued with an Annual IOPD Events Race Licence. If not a member you will have paid for a One Event Licence included in your entry fee, which will be issued to you at rider sign on. These licences mean you are exempt from prosecution for motoring offences whilst taking part in our events. This is extremely important as Motorsport is dangerous and in the event of a serious fatal accident, without this exception you could be prosecuted for the Offence of causing Death by Dangerous Driving.

BE SAFE

Make sure that any event you take part in is suitably permitted and authorised and that you have been properly licensed to take part.

Any Organiser that puts on an event without the correct permit and authorisation is doing so at the expense of its riders well being and will be rendering both themselves and their riders liable to prosecution.

ALL  Team members MUST attend the riders breifing to make sure they are aware of how the event will run and also any changes that have been made on the day that may affect them

QUALIFYING (45 to 60 mins depending on circuit)

The pitlane will open and remain open for 45 to 60 mins, during this time each team member must post a time. The fastest overall time set by the team will be used to determine their start postion. Only one team member can take to the track at any given time.

BREAK

There will be approx 15 MIN break for people to catch their breath , let their bikes cool down and take on some nourishment. During which time we will print out and publish the start positions for each team.

ENDURANCE RACE

This will be a Le Mans style start. Each team will be called forward one by one to take up their start position. One team member only must hold the bike in position, the designated start rider will form up directly opposite the bike on the other side of the track with their race attire on. When ready the starter will hold the flag high in the air (you are now under starters orders) At the drop of the flag the start rider must run to their team bike and start it, it MUST NOT be started by the team member holding the bike.

PIT STOPS

It is up to each team to decide when they make a pit stop / rider / bike change.  On entering the pit lane the rider must  STOP at the tape marker, turn off their machine and push it to the designated change over / refuelling area. Once in this area the bike can then either be refuelled for the next session or if swapping bikes the  transponder must be removed from the first bike and fitted into the holder on the next bike. The next rider must then push the bike out of the holding area  and ONCE OVER THE EXIT TAPE MARKER can start the bike ready to rejoin the race. Failure to stop at the tape marker or turn off the engine or restart the engine before the 2nd tape mark will result in a 5 LAP PENALTY to the offending team.

PIT LANE SAFETY

  • The riders must present their machines and all race kit to the Technical Inspection Officers between 07:30 hrs and 08:45hrs Saturday Morning (If entering just the Sunday you will need to do this Sunday morning)
  • Riders who fail to sign on and attend Technical Inspection before 8:45am will have to wait until the Admin Team or Scrutineer Team have time to process them and inspect their equipment. This may mean you miss first practice. The Solution – arrive in plenty of time.
  • ONBOARD CAMERAS – As of 2017 on wards ALL on board cameras must be fixed securely to the bike and CANNOT be worn on the body or helmet. This is a stipulation direct from the Permit Issuers and has also been requested by the Insurers. • You will be issued with a Technical Inspection Sticker. This must be attached to the vehicles number board and be clearly visible. Failure to display the sticker may result in you not being able to enter the track and or loss of points.
  • If at any time during the event your machine is involved in an incident. The Marshalls or Officials may remove your sticker. In this case you will need to present your machine to the scrutineering team to be re-inspected and issued with another. Failure to display the sticker may result in you not being able to enter the track and or loss of points.
  • If you have more than one machine / helmet/ race wear you should present all of them to Technical inspection and obtain a pass band for each machine.
  • ALL Riders must report to Race Control and hand in their Filled In Sign on Forms between 07:30hrs and 08:45hrs Saturday morning (Sunday Morning if only doing the 1 day). A link to download these forms will have been emailed to you along with the entry confirmation. • RIDERS BRIEFING – ALL Riders must attend the Riders briefing, usually held in the Pitlane at 08:30hrs both Saturday and Sunday. This is important as there may well be vital safety information or changes to the schedule etc that you need to be made aware of. After Riders briefing each rider must collect a Riders Pass wrist band from the Paddock Marshal.  If you are involved in an incident that requires the Medic to attend, your wrist band will be removed. You cannot continue to ride in the meeting until the Medical Officer has passed you fit to ride and has issued you with a replacement wrist band. Riders who fail to display this band on their wrist when asked to do so will have their points removed.

CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS

LARGE GRIDS –

The Grids with Large entry Levels (Stock 140 / Vets / Stock 160/ Superminis) will be awarded points from 1st to 45th place as follows:

1st Place = 60

2nd Place = 50

3rd Place = 45

4th Place = 42

5th Place = 41

6th Place = 40

7th Place = 39

and so on down to 45th Place = 1 point.

This allows as many people as possible to be included in the championship battles and tables.

SMALLER GRIDS –

The Grids with Smaller entry Levels (Junior SM140, JSm 90, Mini GP 90/140-50/190-70 & Ohvale GPO 110 Cup) will be awarded points from 1st to 15th place as follows:

1st Place = 25

2nd Place = 20

3rd Place = 16

4th Place = 13

5th Place = 11

6th Place = 10

7th Place =9

and so on down to 15th Place = 1 point.

To qualify for points in a race a rider must take the start (from either their grid position or the pit lane entrance), must take the chequered flag and must have completed at least 2/3rds race distance.

TROPHIES / MEDALS

For the 2020 season trophies will be awarded at each round for the overall winner based on the most points scored over the event taken from both races.. Where a class is split into two groups trophies will only be given to the 1st, 2nd & 3rd places in Group A.

Classes with over 8 Entries in a class 1st, 2nd and 3rd will be awarded

5 to 8 Entries in a class = 1st and 2nd awarded.

1 to 4 Entries in a class = 1st only will be awarded.

CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHIES –

Trophies will be awarded at the annual presentation/dinner dance event as follows:

Over 8 Entries in a class = 1st, 2nd and 3rd Overall

5 to 8 Entries in a class = 1st and 2nd Overall

1 to 4 Entries in a class = 1st Overall Only

In the event of of a Tie in overall points  the championship positions will be determined on the highest amount of race wins, 2nd places and if necessary 3rd places.

PRACTICE

  • Riders will commence practice ONLY under the instructions of the Start Officials & Paddock Marshal.
  • The duration of each practice session will commence from the time the pit lane opens and will finish (chequered flag) not less than 5 minutes later.
  • The end of practice will be indicated by the waving of a chequered flag at which time the pit exit will be closed. A rider’s time will continue to be recorded until they pass the finish line after the allotted time has elapsed.
  • If the practice is interrupted due to an incident or any other reason then a red flag will be displayed at the start line and at marshals posts. All riders must return slowly to the pit lane or as otherwise instructed by the Marshals under the direction of the Clerk of the Course.
  • When the practice is restarted the time remaining will be decided by the Clerk of the Course & Race Direction.

TIMED PRACTICE & QUALIFYING

  • Where identical times are recorded by more than one rider in the official qualifying practice session for the race the riders 2nd fastest lap will be taken from each rider as a tie break.
  • If for any reason a timed lap cannot be set during qualifying due to timing equipment failure the class session will be rerun in full after the other classes have qualified.
  • In the event of a total malfunction in the timing system occurs before qualifying can be run, grid positions for the races will either be taken from the practice times set over the weekend or the current Championship positions.
  • Riders must only join the circuit for their form up lap when instructed to do so by the Pit lane Marshal.
  • Once the first Rider takes their position on the Grid the Pit lane entrance will be effectively closed. Riders who fail to take to the circuit before then will be made to start from the pit lane entrance when all riders on the grid have passed.
  • All riders must make themselves aware of their qualifying position and their place on the grid. Where the circuit does not have a numbered grid, we will lay out numbered markers where possible just to the side of the grid position to enable the rider to identify their grid spot.
  • In the case of a Junior MGP / JSM 90 Riders, we require one of the Parents or Team Member (wearing a Hi Viz Bib) to stand on the grid in the position their rider is to stop at. Once instructed they must clear the grid and return to behind the circuit barriers completely before the race can be started. Any delays caused by parents failing to clear the grid promptly will result in the race being shortened to maintain other classes available track time.
  • If a rider finds another rider in their grid position they should hold their hand High in the air. The Grid Marshall will come and sort them into the correct position before giving the all-clear to the Flag Marshall.
  • Once all riders are in the correct position the Grid Marshall will if necessary blow a whistle to signify that all parents/team members must clear the Grid. They will then signal the all-clear from the rear of the grid.
  • The Flag Marshall will be positioned in the centre of the track in front of the grid. At the all-clear signal, he will hold start flag high in the air. Riders are then under starters orders.
  • Once ready the Flag Marshall will then proceed to the side of the track with the flag still held high. At a time of their choosing, they will drop the flag to signify the start of the race.
  • If a rider stalls on the grid they must stay in position and hold their hand up high in the air. They must remain on the bike until all riders have passed before attempting to push the bike clear or push start it. All Parents or Team members must stay clear of the grid until all the riders have passed the stricken rider for theirs and the other riders safety.
  • JUMP STARTS. If a Jumpstart is reported by the Officials or other source it will be investigated post-race / meeting (depending on time available) by using the Start line camera. If the rider is deemed to have gained an advantage they will receive a minimum 15 sec time penalty to be added to their race finish time.
  • GREEN – The track is clear racing can commence
  • YELLOW & RED STRIPE – Rain, Oil or other substance is affecting adhesion on this section of the track.
  • CHEQUERED BLACK AND WHITE FLAG – This flag will be waved at the finish line on track level to indicate the finish of race or practice session.
  • STATIC YELLOW FLAG – When shown stationary at the flag marshal post this flag indicates danger ahead. No overtaking is permitted
  • WAVED YELLOW FLAG – When shown waved at the flag marshal post this flag indicates that the danger is more imminent. The riders must be prepared to stop.  Overtaking is forbidden up until after the incident.  Any Infringement of this rule during a qualifying session will result in the cancellation of the time of the lap during which the infraction occurred. In case of infringement of this rule during the race, a time penalty will be imposed. In both cases, further penalties (such as fine – suspension) may also be imposed.
  • RED FLAG – When the race or practice is being interrupted on instructions from the Clerk of the Course Red Lights and/or waved Red Flags will be displayed around the circuit. Riders must stop racing/practice and proceed as instructed by the Marshals. Any infringement of this rule will be penalised with one of the following penalties: fine – disqualification – withdrawal of Championship points – The red flag may also be used to close the track.
  • BLACK FLAG – This flag is used to convey instructions to one rider only and is displayed motionless together with the rider’s number or when no number available pointed directly at the rider in question. The rider must stop at the pits at the end of the current lap and report to the pitlane marshall. In the case of a mechanical issue with the bike or riders kit this may be corrected and the rider can rejoin the race at the pitlane marshalls instruction. If the Black Flag was issued for any other reason the rider will be instructed to appear in front of the Clerk of Course. Any infringement of this rule will be penalised with one or more of the following penalties: fine – disqualification – withdrawal of Championship points – suspension

RED FLAG PROCEDURE

If a red flag is issued during a race the following will apply

  • If less than 3 laps have been completed the race will be restarted from original qualifying positions and will run the race distance less 3 laps.
  • If more than 3 laps, but less than 2/3rds Race distance has been completed the race will be restarted from race positions from the finish of the lap before the flag was issued and will run race distance less 3 laps.
  • If more than 2/3rds race distance has been completed the race will be deemed finished and the positions taken from the crossing of the line before the flag was issued.
  • If after a red flag incident the rider causing the flag to be issued cannot immediately be determined , the riders will be allowed to take their place on the grid and complete the race. After further investigation using the track side cameras and referring to officials the rider will be excluded and their points removed for that race.

BEHAVIOUR DURING PRACTICE & RACE

RIDERS MUST OBEY THE FLAG SIGNALS, THE LIGHT SIGNALS, AND THE BOARDS WHICH CONVEY INSTRUCTIONS. ANY INFRINGEMENT TO THIS RULE WILL BE PENALISED ACCORDINGLY

  • Riders must ride in a responsible manner which does not cause danger to other competitors or participants, either on the track or in the pit-lane. Any infringement of this rule will be penalised with one of the following penalties: fine – time penalty – disqualification – withdrawal of Championship points –
  • Riders should use only the track and the pit-lane. However, if a rider accidentally leaves the track then they may rejoin it at the place indicated by the marshals or at a place which does not provide an advantage to them. If in a race any position or advantage gained must be given back by allowing the following rider/s back through when safe to do so. Any infringement of this rule during the practices or warm up will be penalised by the cancellation of the lap time concerned and during the race, by a time penalty. Further penalties (such as fine – disqualification – withdrawal of Championship points) may also be imposed.
  • Any repairs or adjustments along the race track must be made by the rider working alone with absolutely no outside assistance.
  • To qualify for points in a race a rider must take the start (from either their grid position or the pit lane entrance), must take the chequered flag and must have completed at least 2/3rds race distance.
  • If the rider intends to retire, then they must park the motorcycle in a safe area as indicated by the marshals.
  • If the rider encounters a problem with the machine which will result in their retirement from the practice or the race, then they should not attempt to tour at reduced speed to the pits but should pull off the track and park their machine in a safe place as indicated by the marshals. If possible they can ride the machine back to the pits on the cool-down lap after the last rider has taken the chequered flag.
  • Riders are not permitted to return slowly (coast) to the pits for any reason during practice or racing as this can cause a hazard due to closing speeds between riders on race pace and those coasting. A near Race Pace speed should be maintained.
  • Riders may enter the pits during the race, but taking the machine out of the pits into the paddock is not permitted and will be deemed as a retirement. Any infringement of this rule will be penalised with a disqualification.
  • Riders who stop their engines in the pits may be assisted to re-start their motorcycle by the mechanics.
  • Riders are not allowed to transport another person on their machine or to be transported by another rider on his/her machine.
  • Riders who fall from their machine and are treated by the track medic are not permitted to continue with the practice or race until passed fit by the Medical Officer and the machine re-inspected by technical control. New wrist / Bar bands will be issued for this purpose/ Any infringement of this rule will result in the rider being disqualified from the remainder of the practice session or race and may result in further penalties.
  • Riders must not ride or push their motorcycles in the opposite direction of the circuit, either on the track or in the pit lane, unless doing so under the direction of an Official.
  • No signal of any kind may pass between a moving motorcycle and anyone connected with the motorcycle’s entrant or rider, save for the signal from the time keeping transponder, or legible messages on a pit board from team to their rider over the pit lane wall. Automatic timing devices, provided they do not disrupt official timekeeping methods, are allowed
  • As from March 2017 onwards the carrying of on board cameras is only permitted when firmly attached to the vehicle and CANNOT be worn by the rider. This is a stipulation by our Insurers and endorsed by our permit issuers.. The Camera must be attached when having the vehicle scrutineered and must be approved by the Safety Officer at the time.
  • In the interest of safety, a rider may not stop his machine on the racing surface during the slow down lap, when returning to the pits after the chequered flag.
  • Stopping on the track during practices and races is forbidden. During the practice sessions and warm-ups, practice starts are permitted, when it is safe to do so, at the pit lane exit before joining the track.

BEHAVIOUR IN THE PADDOCK

  • Riders and their Family / Team Members must behave in a responsible and respectful manner at all times. Verbal or Physical abuse of other riders, spectators, officials or other team members will not be tolerated.
  • The riding of race machines outside of the track and holding areas is STRICTLY PROHIBITED at ALL TIMES. The only areas that a machine can be ridden in are the holding area and the track itself.
  • The riding of Push Bikes, Cycles, Roller, blades and Scooters is STRICTLY PROHIBITED at ALL TIMES anywhere within the circuit boundaries (Paddock, Pitlane or Support Roads). Please do not bring them with you.

As it seems some people cannot abide by the above regulations we will be employing extra paddock marshalls to help police the above at each round. The cost of which has contributed to the rise in Entry Fees.

Depending on the severity of the offence the Paddock Marshal or Official may issue you with a written warning. If an offence is committed again you or a team member / family member you are their to support will lose their points for that round. Any further offence will result in you and the rider you support being excluded from attending any further BMB Events.

FIRE PRECAUTIONS

  • Smoking within the Pitlane Holding area or on the Circuit is Strictly prohibited
  • Each working vehicle and /or Awning in the Paddock should have a 2 Kg (minimum) dry powder fire extinguisher available for immediate use in the event of a paddock fire.
  • A fire extinguisher will be available at the front of the Pitlane / Holding area and at all Marshall points.

CONTROL OF EXHAUST NOISE LEVEL

  • ALL the circuits we race and practice at are under increasing pressure to minimise the noise emmissions  and have in place a strict noise level. The BMB are now pro active in this field and have now enforced maximum noise levels for all bikes racing with us. This is in every bodies interests as failure to do so will lead to the loss of circuits to race at.
  • The Clerk of the Course will disqualify any machine which exceeds the maximum permitted sound level, or which in his opinion is deemed to be excessively noisy.
  • Noise limit in force for all machines is a maximum of 98db/A when tested track side / drive by and 105dB/A at a static test
  • For static testing 4000 rpm will be used. The noise test will be conducted with the microphone placed at 1 metre from the exhaust pipe at an angle of 45° measured from the centre-line of the exhaust end and at the height of the exhaust pipe, but at least 20 cm above the ground. If this is not possible, the measurement can be taken at 45° The driver shall keep his engine running out of gear and shall increase the engine speed until it reaches the specified Revolutions Per Minute (RPM). Measurements must be taken when the specified RPM is reached. Due to the similarity of the piston stroke in different engine configurations within the capacity classes, the noise test will be conducted at a fixed RPM. For reference only, the mean piston speed at which the noise test is conducted, is calculated at 11m/sec (4-stroke engines).
  • A machine which does not comply with the noise limits may be presented several times at prerace control.
  • Be aware that a vehicle may pass a static test but still fail the crucial drive by test. This being the case the rider will be asked to silence the exhaust further until it does pass a drive by test.  It is in everyone’s interest that these levels are achieved because failure to do so will result in the circuit refusing future events.

SAFETY CLOTHING

  • HELMETS – must have the latest ACU gold sticker or marked to comply with ECE 22.05 (the Euro equivalent). The helmet and visor must be in good condition and undamaged. If more than one helmet could or will be used during the meeting both must comply with these conditions and both must be presented for morning safety inspection.
  • LEATHERS – Must be in good condition with no holes. Zips and fastening must work effectively and should be fitted with body armour and back protection. A separate back protector must be worn by all Junior riders and is highly recommended to be used by seniors also. Two Piece leathers can be used but must zip together correctly and be zipped together when riding.
  • BOOTS – These must be full length (not ankle boots) and offer good protection with no holes or splits.
  • GLOVES – These must be of good quality leather and fitted with adequate knuckle and wrist protection.
  • BODY PIERCINGS AND RINGS ETC – It is recommended that all body piercing, studs, rings etc. are removed. Competitors are advised not to wear hand, face or body jewellery/piercings which could prove hazardous in the event of an accident. The mouth should be kept clear of anything likely to cause a blockage of the airway in the event of an incident, e.g. chewing gum. Long hair must be tucked inside the helmet / leathers at all times.

CAMPING AND GENERAL BEHAVIOUR AT THE CIRCUIT

  • CAMPING – All of the circuits will allow you to camp over on the Friday and Saturday evening but under certain conditions below

  • GENERATORS – These must be turned off between midnight and 6.00am.

  • NO RUNNING ENGINES – Race engines must not be started after 6 pm and before 9 am or 5 minutes before the first session of the day (10 am at some circuits). Failure to observe this rule may well result in the offender being asked to leave the venue.

  • TRACK WALK – You may walk the circuit between 07:30 and 8:45 Saturday and Sunday Mornings (7:00 and 7:45 when the day is starting earlier). The circuit is out of bounds except for racing at all other times.

  • PARENTS – Please make sure your children are supervised and that you are aware of where and what they are doing at all times.

  • SHOWERS / WC – These are provided by the circuit for your convenience, please do not abuse these facilities and make sure that they are left clean and serviceable.

  • STAY WITHIN THE CIRCUITS BOUNDARIES – The surrounding fields, paddock, roads and areas adjacent to the circuit are strictly out of bounds. Please remain within the Circuit Parameter at all times. Between the hours of 19:00 and 07:00 all areas except the Showers, WC and Camping areas are out of bounds. Please if you are camping over remain within these areas at all times.

  • RUBBISH / UNWANTED SPARES – Please make sure when vacating your camping/paddock area that you bag up all your waste and either place it in the bins provided or take it away with you. Please take with you any unwanted spares and tyres. These are NOT to be left at the circuit as we will be charged for disposing of them.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR JUNIOR RIDERS

  • SIGNING ON – Please make sure that a Juniors Parent or the Legal Guardian signs the entry form and is present when handing in at race control.
  • NOVICES – Unless a child of under 14 has a Race Licence issued by 1 of the 12 Department of Transport appointed Governing Bodies for Motorsport in the UK, or a proven track record with a recognised championship, they will deemed as a novice. They must wear a HI VIZ bib. After each event competing as a novice, they must get their issued Novice Licence signed by the Clerk of the Course. After 5 signatures they will be deemed competent and issued with a full IOPD Race licence. They are then free to race as normal and no longer have to wear a HI VIZ bib etc.
  • PARENT / TEAM MARSHALLING –  Due to the current issues with social distancing and infection control we will no longer be able to allow parents/team recovery marshalls trackside. Instead, we will nominate up to 3 parents/team members from the class to act as recovery marshalls.  They will be preselected before each round in rotation to make sure it is fair for everyone. They MUST be wearing a HI VIZ bib/vest, mask and gloves and should refrain from contact with the children unless absolutely necessary. Please remember you are there to help ALL Juniors not just your own rider.  They are NOT there to give signals and coaching to their own riders and should be concentrating on what is happening around them and not on other parts of the track. Except when recovering or aiding riders, they should maintain a distance of no less than 2 mtrs from the edge of the track. Parents / Team Members waving their hands around at the edge of the track and running from one side of the track to the other are 1) Distracting other riders as well as their own from concentrating on their riding and therefore creating a hazard. 2) Not Concentrating themselves on helping other riders that may have come to a halt or fallen in their designated areas. If a parent or team member repeatedly fails to observe the above their rider will not be allocated points.
  • STALLING ON THE GRID – In the event, a rider stalls their machine before the start flag has dropped the rider must hold their hand high in the air. The grid Marshal will raise the flag at the rear of the grid to signal that the race should not be started. The nearest Nominated Recovery Marshall will restart the rider if possible. Once clear the start process will commence again. If the rider stalls at the start they MUST STAY ON THE VEHICLE and hold their hand high in the air. Parents/team members must not return to the grid but again the recovery marshall will attend to the stricken rider.
  • PROGRESSION OF JUNIOR RIDERS – Our permit issuers and Governing body (IOPD) have given us permission for Junior Riders to join a Senior Class early only under the following conditions.
  • 1) They must hold a FULL race licence issued by 1 of the 12 Department of Transport appointed Governing Bodies. Or an Internationally Recognised Body and have a proven track record of racing with them.
  • 2) They are capable of consistently lapping within 7% of the groups leading riders lap time set at that circuit.
  • 3) They are deemed competent by Race Direction of being able to ride within that class.
  • 4) The rider must have completed the full previous race season with the championship.
  • 5) They and their vehicle meet the minimum requirements for the class including the minimum weight restrictions..
  • It’s worth mentioning that although we are all for Junior Rider Progression this must not be at the detriment of the enjoyment of the existing riders within the group the junior wishes to go up into.  If we feel this may be the case we may approach the existing riders within the senior group to see that they agree to the Junior joining them (this will be achieved by a private online ballot). The Rider /Parents or Team Members may not approach the riders directly or canvass them in any way as the existing riders must not feel pressured to give consent. Failure to observe this point will result in a failed application.
  • If all the above conditions are met, the rider will be allowed to join the grid but will be wearing a HI VIZ Bib for 5 races. If after those 5 races no incident involving them has been reported to the Clerk of The Course or Race Control and after assessment, they feel they are safe to ride, they will be granted permission to join the class permanently. Once a Junior Rider has been promoted to a Senior class they are therefore deemed a senior and therefore can no longer race in a Junior Class. (As of March 2020 the Junior Rider will not score points until such time as they are granted full permission to ride in the senior class).
  • If you wish to move your child up into a senior group class please email the organisers at info@britishminibikes.com. Please remember that moving your child up too early may result in a slowing in their progress rather than helping develop it.

NOTE –   Although we are keen to help develop young riders we MUST ALWAYS consider the following:

  • The upcoming riders safety and ability to compete
  • The existing riders in the classes safety
  • The enjoyment of the sport and more specifically the riders of the class the Junior is moving up into. They at no time should feel their enjoyment of their class has been compromised in any way by the allowing of the younger rider to compete alongside them.

In consideration of the applicant being accepted as a rider

BMB SOCIAL MEDIA USAGE POLICY FOR ALL RIDERS & TEAMS

Why do we have a Policy?

  1. As a Championship, we need to make clear what is and isn’t acceptable for Championship officials, members, their team and people representing them to post online, with particular regard to championship discussions, on track and racing incidents, judicial matters, our sporting and technical regulations, dealing with fellow competitors, general rider and paddock rumours and speculation, the Championships management and views on race meeting officials.

Social media, and Facebook in particular, is an extremely powerful tool both in terms of communications and interactivity. It provides a valued platform for motorsport competitors and enthusiasts alike.

Since it is all in the public domain, interactive and open-ended, there is however a more significant onus of responsibility on championship members to behave courteously, politely and without becoming significantly provocative to others. No-one is suggesting that we should simply discourage the use of social media since it offers more positives than negatives.

But we do ask that Championship members and their teams use this policy to avoid some of the common pitfalls that can arise; and help social media to be used in a responsible way, for the benefit of the club.

    1. Guidelines
    • Members and their Teams should present themselves online as they would when meeting face to face
    • avoid posting anything that could be seen as aggressive, deliberately controversial or disparaging towards fellow members, race competitors, race meeting officials or the Championship
    • This includes not only comments but also deliberately provocative media, whether posts on websites, blogs and forums or the likes of videos/memes and social media.
    • Members are reminded that they are participating in a sport, and sporting decisions are governed largely by volunteers.
    • Abuse towards other members and sporting officials is as unacceptable online as it is in person.
    • Whether you are on social media or are a person with your own website/blog.

                2. The Legal Position

    • It is worth remembering that any statements written and published online (whether on social media or a personal website) that are judged by a court of law to defame the character of a person, business or organisation are no different to those same words in written print and are equally libellous and open the writer to legal action.
    • That is why we insist that the Championship and its entire membership, teams and families are bound by the above policy
    • As such, the Organisers reserve the right to cancel any riders membership, remove any points the rider may have accrued to date from the championship table and/or deny entry to their events to individuals,  their team or people representing them, should online actions of an individual – or persons representing an individual – contravene the above guidelines.

    NOTE OF INTEREST:

The four-wheeled motorsport Governing Body, the MSA, has published their own Guidance and we are in full agreement with their Policy – which states:

General Guidance from MSA’s Social Media Policy

    • Don’t write something that you wouldn’t be prepared to say to someone face to face.

    • When posting on a social media website, assume that anybody can access that post.

    • Determine whether you are participating in a personal or official capacity and consider whether your opinions and activity are appropriate in that context.

    • Remember that participating in social media results in your comments being permanently available and open to being re-published by other media outlets. POST RACE SCRUTINEERING AND COMPLIANCE CHECKS

  • From March 2020 onward  stock class engines will be random tested on the Track Side Dyno to check for compliance with the maximum output levels for their class and given the chance to have their engine sealed. Targets for testing will be the rider with the fastest lap and or a random rider which will be at the discretion of the Race Director. If a rider is chosen but still has their engine seal intact will not need to be retested on the dyno.
  • The Scrutineering Team will be making checks after each session to make sure each rider and their machines with the regulations and that they also have their engine seal in place.
  • The Scrutineering Official will inspect you and your machine to make sure that everything complies with both the General rules and regulations and also the specific class regulations that the rider is taking part in.
  • If instructed by the paddock marshall to report to the Dyno team, the rider must do so immediately before removing the machine from the Parc Ferme or Pitlane. Failure to do so will result in exclusion and the loss of all points for the meeting.

WHILST SIGNING ON AND BY TAKING PART IN A CONTROLLED STOCK CLASS YOU ARE AGREEING TO THE FACT THAT YOU OR YOUR TEAM WILL HAVE YOUR ENGINE TESTED. ALSO  THAT YOUR MACHINE MAY BE INSPECTED TO MAKE SURE IT COMPLIES WITH THE CLASS REGULATIONS THAT YOU ARE RIDING IN. IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO ABIDE BY THE ABOVE PLEASE DO NOT ENTER THE EVENT OR ENTER INTO AN OPEN / UNRESTRICTED CLASS IF AVAILABLE.

OFFICIAL COMPLIANCE PROTEST PROCEDURE

If during an event a Rider or their representative feel that another riders vehicle may not comply to the class regulations, they can lodge an official protest. This must be done before the final race of the riders class to give us time to prepare for the inspection and also so that we can keep the vehicle that has been ridden in the parc ferme ready for inspection.

The form (available at race control) must be completed and handed into either the Clerk of the Course or Race Direction and must be accompanied by a £100 deposit. The rider in questions vehicle will then be brought to scrutineering after the riders final race and they will be tested on the dyno and the bike inspected to make sure that the vehicle complies to their classes regulations. If the vehicle proves to be compliant the rider will be awarded the deposit held in form of compensation. If however, the vehicle fails to comply the protester will be refunded the deposit and the Rider will be excluded and their points removed from the championship table.

A rider or team can only apply for a compliance inspection against a particular rider once per season. However other riders/teams are free to apply for the compliance check against that same rider at any time in the season.

JUNIOR RIDER STANDARDS & GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP POINTS

From March 2020 onwards all Junior Riders will start the championship with 25 points.  We expect all of our riders, teams and parents to abide by all of our rules, regulations but especially those concerning their behaviour on and off the circuit and our social media policy.

We expect everyone to treat their fellow riders, teams, parents, marshalls and all race officials with respect at all times.

Failure by any member of your team (Rider, Persons Invited or Accompanying the Rider and Parents) to abide by our regulations etc will result in the Rider losing the 25 points – That will be your one and only warning, any future failure to comply will result in a ban for the remainder of the season and the removal of all the riders points from the championship table.

OFFICIAL ADJUDICATION PROCESS ON RACE INCIDENTS, OFFICIAL PROTESTS AND RULE INFRINGEMENTS

All race incidents including Jump Starts, Dangerous Riding, Bad Sportsmanship and Official Protests or other Rule Infringements are investigated by the race organiser.  If Necessary all relevant evidence including witness statements, video footage and rider testimonies are made available to the Team of Official Stewards.

The Stewards are then asked by the race organiser to examine the evidence and then Adjudicate on whether an offence/infringement was committed. Then if appropriate set a penalty should one be required.

The Stewards consist of the following:

  1. The Race Director/ Cheif Medical Officer
  2. A representative of the Scrutinising Team
  3. 2 * Current Riders Representing the Paddock
  4. A prominent and respected member of the paddock with over 20 years experience in Motor Racing at all levels.

If there is a perceived conflict of interest the Organiser will cast a vote instead of one of the above.

The Stewards decision is final.
